Mother’s Day Session Specials!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! It’s been such a long winter and I for one love any sort of break in routine, so a long holiday weekend with my family hit the spot. The slow season hasn’t been very slow for me in my personal life. I recently moved my elderly mom down to New Prague and have been caring for her. She has her own senior apartment within walking distance from my house so now I have an extra grocery list, an extra home to clean, and extra food to cook. Of course I do it out of love and I’m happy to care for my mom after she cared for me for so long.

On the subject of mom’s, I was pleasantly surprised when the movie Stepmom came on last night. I love that movie and haven’t seen it in so long! I especially love the part when Susan Sarandon asks Julia Roberts to take some updated photos of her and the kids for her Christmas present project. Julia Roberts tags along while they ice skate, go horseback riding, and read stories in bed. It inspired me to create and offer similar sessions for all you mother’s out there. Now, Susan Sarandon’s character is dying of cancer, but let’s face it… we’re all dying. Yep, I said it. Someday we are all going to die and we just don’t know when that day is going to come. These days we are so engrossed in social media and TV and sadly our kids are growing up before our eyes. What do you want them to remember? What photos do you have of you with them? I can tell you that I have a handful of photos with my kids on my iPhone on self-portrait mode. Mothers in general are rarely in photos and when we are, it’s not doing anything memorable. I want to create photos for mothers doing special or everyday activities with their kids. The stuff that they remember doing with you, only they will have non-iPhone photos of it to remember you!

This year, I’m offering two types of Mother’s Day mini-sessions. I encourage you to think outside the box and choose the Mommy Moments Session! I am also offering the traditional posed photos at/near the studio on May 4th. Posed portraits are great for framing and sharing on facebook but if given the choice, I would choose lifestyle over posed any day. Lifestyle captures true emotion and creates heirloom images. Posed photos capture how you look at the moment. Either way, I’m excited to create some images for all you awesome mommas!

Shoot me an email to book a session!

For those that want to stick with the more traditional portraits, here is the information for the studio mini-sessions on Saturday, May 4th.

Anna | Shattuck- St. Mary’s Senior Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing Anna’s two older sisters when they were seniors and I can’t believe it’s finally Anna’s turn! All of these sisters are so beautiful and Anna rocked this out! We shot in studio and will be photographing the outdoor part of her session once the weather warms up. I can’t wait for Spring!

I’m still looking for a couple of senior models from different schools. If you’re interested in receiving a FREE senior photo session please inquire for more details. Thanks!

New date added! | March 3rd Mini-Sessions

My afternoon February mini-sessions got snowed out. That was the afternoon we had freezing rain topped with 4-5 inches of snow, remember that? That day’s loss is your gain! I rescheduled my afternoon sessions for Sunday, March 3rd and decided to open up the morning as well. Please contact me if you’re interested!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is special for me because Oliver is my Valentine baby! I remember when I was pregnant with him and I found out my due date was February 14th. Everyone commented on how I would have a Valentine’s baby but I always thought, what are the odds? Sure enough, he surprised me and came into this world at 4:00 am on the 14th. I admit, it makes Valentine planning a bit more difficult because I am in “birthday” mode. I managed to whip out these cute Valentine’s I saw on Pinterest (of course) for Oliver’s teachers at ECFE.

I managed to sneak out and shoot a few 3 year photos of Oliver on his birthday. Although the session looks like it may have been successful, these two photos which were shot immediately at the beginning were all I got! Thankfully, they are cute and represent his 3 year mark. I know you non-photographers imagine that we photographers must take professional photos of our kids everyday but I assure you that it is much too stressful! We have the perfect shot in our head of what we want and if we don’t get it, there’s too much pressure to give up without making them miserable.I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s with their loved ones!
