Mother’s Day Session Specials!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! It’s been such a long winter and I for one love any sort of break in routine, so a long holiday weekend with my family hit the spot. The slow season hasn’t been very slow for me in my personal life. I recently moved my elderly mom down to New Prague and have been caring for her. She has her own senior apartment within walking distance from my house so now I have an extra grocery list, an extra home to clean, and extra food to cook. Of course I do it out of love and I’m happy to care for my mom after she cared for me for so long.

On the subject of mom’s, I was pleasantly surprised when the movie Stepmom came on last night. I love that movie and haven’t seen it in so long! I especially love the part when Susan Sarandon asks Julia Roberts to take some updated photos of her and the kids for her Christmas present project. Julia Roberts tags along while they ice skate, go horseback riding, and read stories in bed. It inspired me to create and offer similar sessions for all you mother’s out there. Now, Susan Sarandon’s character is dying of cancer, but let’s face it… we’re all dying. Yep, I said it. Someday we are all going to die and we just don’t know when that day is going to come. These days we are so engrossed in social media and TV and sadly our kids are growing up before our eyes. What do you want them to remember? What photos do you have of you with them? I can tell you that I have a handful of photos with my kids on my iPhone on self-portrait mode. Mothers in general are rarely in photos and when we are, it’s not doing anything memorable. I want to create photos for mothers doing special or everyday activities with their kids. The stuff that they remember doing with you, only they will have non-iPhone photos of it to remember you!

This year, I’m offering two types of Mother’s Day mini-sessions. I encourage you to think outside the box and choose the Mommy Moments Session! I am also offering the traditional posed photos at/near the studio on May 4th. Posed portraits are great for framing and sharing on facebook but if given the choice, I would choose lifestyle over posed any day. Lifestyle captures true emotion and creates heirloom images. Posed photos capture how you look at the moment. Either way, I’m excited to create some images for all you awesome mommas!

Shoot me an email to book a session!

For those that want to stick with the more traditional portraits, here is the information for the studio mini-sessions on Saturday, May 4th.
