I’m a happy girl.

First of all, I cannot believe it’s nearly the end of July! This happens every year- summer just seems to fly. More so this year as I had my kids signed up for lots of summer activities. As everything winds down, bookings are filling up my schedule like crazy over here! Between work, my kids social lives, and trying to enjoy summer myself, each day becomes more jam packed with things to do… and I couldn’t be happier!

Each year, I become more and more amazed with my little business. To think I started just hoping to make some extra grocery money aside from my full time corporate job, and now I am able to stay home with my kids doing what I absolutely love to do… creating and giving to others. I have worked so hard to get to where I am and when I take a moment to kick back and realize that all my hard work has paid off, it’s an amazing feeling!

If I had one piece of advice to give for up and coming photographers, it would be to find yourself and market for it. These days, I am shooting what I love to shoot most- vintage weddings, styled kids, lifestyle families, and senior girls. When you’re starting out, I think it’s normal to want to please everyone and offer everything from pet photography to extended family portraits. At some point you will realize that you can’t master everything and it’s best to stick with what makes you happiest. I get excited for each and every booking because I know my clients see something in my work that they want to have as well. They come to me trusting my artwork and my vision and that’s about the best thing a photographer could ask for!

Fall schedule:

Here is an update to my schedule for those of you thinking about Fall portraits. Dates are filling up quickly and I am booked with Saturday weddings through all of August and most of September. I will be scheduling seniors on Sunday evenings but do still have limited weeknight availability. My preliminary Fall Mini-Session dates will be the weekends of October 6/7th and October 13th/14th. I loved last year how they were late afternoon/evening sessions at two locations. I will be doing that again this year but I am in need of your feedback! If you will be booking a mini-session please leave a comment or send me a private email.

1. Saturday or Sunday? Ideally, I would chose a Saturday and have Sunday be a weather back-up day but I know that Saturdays can be busy. Let me know if October 6th and 13th work for you.

2. Locations? I need help choosing two locations. Ideas could include apple orchards, fall color settings, barns, field settings, etc. If you have requests please let me know!

In closing, I would like to leave you with a sneak peek of these pretty sunset images from Missy + Matt’s wedding this past weekend. I hope your summer is going well! Next thing you know the State Fair commercials will be starting up!
